Custer's Last Stand is the usual way for art to depict the cultural collision that took place in 1875. Weaver chose to depict that event from the Indian's point of view. The Brave has the spoils of war...a 7th Cavalry cap and its guidon...while in the background the grim tale is told by the scavengers of the air, the ravens.
